William C. Schopfer, Board Chair
Mr. Schopfer is president of Fund Development Associates, a Sacramento based regional fundraising consulting firm. For more that twenty-five years he has worked with a wide range of clients from health and education to arts and children's causes to augment funding from philanthropic sources. He is a Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) and a past president of California's Capital Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals. In 1993, the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) named Mr. Schopfer the region’s Outstanding Fundraising Executive of the year.
Patricia Estopinal, Vice Chair
Ms. Estopinal is a First Vice President in Investments and Senior Investment Management Specialist at Smith Barney with 20 years experience in professional money management. She recently attained the designation of Certified Investment Management Analyst. Her clientele includes both non-profit and for-profit organizations, as well as individuals. She is a past President of the Sacramento Treasury Management Association and has experience volunteering in the HOST tutoring program at Jonas Salk.
David R. Chavez, Treasurer
Mr. Chavez is a partner and CPA with the accounting firm of Rossmann McDonald & Benetti, Inc. recently founded his own firm, Chavez, Kirstien & Co. David has worked primarily on financial statement accounting and assurance. As the firm’s audit manager, he worked with various non-profit and for-profit organizations. His non-profit clientele include religious, charitable and educational organizations. He is also a current member and former benevolent fund treasurer of the Active 20/30 Club in Sacramento.
Pam Saltenberger, Secretary
Mrs. Saltenberger is the Chief Executive Officer of the Heart of Central California Girl Scouts Council, the largest Girl Scouts council in California. Before accepting the position of CEO, she was an insurance executive for over 25 years.
Robert M. Cloninger, Board Member
Mr. Cloninger is a native of Sacramento and a product of Sacramento public schools. Previously an attorney and partner at Downey Brand LLP, he is currently in-house counsel for a publicly traded waste management company, Waste Connections, Inc. Before moving back to Sacramento, he practiced for five years in Chicago with the law firm of Schiff Hardin LLP.
Ruth Holton-Hodson
Ruth is currently the Deputy State Controller for Health and Consumer Policy. She began her career running an adult education center for Appalachians in Cincinnati, Ohio. For 12 years she was a public interest advocate in Sacramento for children’s health, consumer and good government issues. Most recently she served as the Director of Public Policy for The California Wellness Foundation. She has a Masters in Educational Administration from the University of Chicago.
Lenora Smith, Ph.D, Board Member
Dr. Smith is a retired educator, having served 38 years in the field of education. Lenora holds a Doctorate Degree in Public Affairs Management. During her career, she taught pre-school through college classes, which included instruction of special education (Educationally Handicapped and the Aurally Handicapped) students. As an administrator, Dr. Smith has served as a Vice-Principal, Principal, Department Chairperson and Personnel Administrator. She has also held the position of University Supervisor for Student Teachers for both California State University and National University. Lenora also served for 18 years as a Personnel Commissioner for the Sacramento County Office of Education. During her career she was published in Who’s Who Among American Women, Who’s Who Among American Educators and cited as one of Sacramento’s Community Educators. Presently, Dr. Smith is the CEA of Personal Power Life Coaching and CEO of L&L Enterprise.
Laura Wilder, CPA, Board Member
Laura is a Senior Associate in the Tax Services Practice at Reznick Group. She has 6 years of experience in tax law, 4 of which were with a Big Four accounting firm. Laura’s experience includes providing clients with tax compliance services. Laura has served clients in the retail, real estate and non-profit industries. Laura has concentrated on real estate clients since she has been with Reznick Group, focusing on low income housing, non-profits and for profit entities. Laura graduated from Washington State University with a Masters in Taxation. Laura is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of California. Laura is a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
